“Geez, boss,” I said. “Your in-basket looks even worse than mine did when I got back from my vacation.”
“You know what they say, no job is finished until the paperwork is complete.”
“Yeah.”
“How are the boys doing?”
“They had a blast at the beach yesterday and voluntarily spruced up our yard when we got home. My neighbor saw them and engaged their services for her yard.”
“I watched them working on that rock wall, and they surely are hard workers.”
“They’re going to the beach on their own today. I think they’ll be just fine.”
“Sarah is looking forward to picking them up and hiring them out to our neighbors.”
“She’s not getting too wrapped up in these boys, is she?”
“Are you thinking what I think you are?”
“She’s a loving and giving person, boss, but I wonder how much of her interest in the twins is because they make her think of Jerry.”
“Some of it, I suspect. I’m going to keep a careful eye on things.”
“Hopefully, it will do both her and the boys some good.”
