I introduced Carl to Captain and Mrs. Plott. He said hello to Sarah, whom he’d met. He spoke to Lucinda and the boys for a minute and went to join his friends. I explained that he and his roommate had driven the boys home in my car the previous summer.

We finished our meal and returned to the house, after which the boys and Lucinda got in my old car and followed the Bridges to their house.
