“There are sharks in the water!” I
yelled.
They yelled something back. Perhaps it was
advice.
“What?” I screamed. “I can’t hear you!”
They yelled it again, but I still couldn’t
make it out. Maybe they dealt with this situation all the time.
After all, this was Shark Beach.
“There are sharks in the water!” I shouted
as loudly as I could.
This time when they responded I heard
exactly what they said.
“Have fun!” they yelled.
My face must have shown my surprise. Were
they just sadistic assholes or did they not hear me?
“THERE ARE SHARKS IN THE WATER!!” I screamed
at the top of my lungs, jumping up and down.
They nodded and then yelled, “ENJOY
DEAR!”
I looked at them astounded, and then I
noticed that they were pointing behind me. I turned around. I saw
two fins, most likely the ones from the sharks who had just come
next to me. I surveyed the water. There were no other people in it,
but plenty of fins. Aside from the two closest, there were two more
