Chapter 48

“Getting ready for tomorrow?” Quentin said.

“Just checking a couple of points I want to emphasize in class tomorrow.”

“Your grandparents are lying down.”

“I know.”

“They’re probably going to be out of it for at least an hour.”

“I know.”

“Doesn’t that give you any ideas?” Quentin said.

“Well… now that you mention it—”

Nate closed the textbook, rose from the desk, and followed Quentin upstairs to the master suite, where they had a long and mutually satisfying session in their bed. Later, they were showered, changed, and sitting in the living room when Nate’s grandparents emerged from the hallway leading to the guest room.

“Hi, Grandma,” Nate said. “Feeling better?”

“Let’s just say that I feel rested, and leave it at that,” Mrs. Wilson said.

“At our ages, an afternoon nap works wonders,” Mr. Wilson said.

“You slept a long time,” Nate said. “Won’t that keep you from going to sleep tonight?”
