“He’s serving several consecutive life sentences in prison,” Quentin said.

“My husband and I have a nice plot in a country cemetery just outside Chattanooga, and we’d like to see our daughter buried there,” Mrs. Wilson said.

Konig was quiet for a moment or two. “You didn’t hear this from me, but if you act quickly, you can probably have her body out of this state before her husband hears about her death. Bear this in mind, though—he could fight you in court later.”

“With what?” Nate said. “He has no resources that we know of.”

“There you go,” Konig said. “And I’ve probably said too much. You folks are free to return to Jacksonville now. We have your contact information, and we’ll be in touch.”

“Thank you,” Mrs. Wilson said.
