It hadn’t been difficult for me to discover her schedule, and I’d booked a romantic three-week cruise on a paddlewheel river boat for her and Gregor. The Magnolia Queenwould leave New Orleans on the fourth Sunday in June, take them up the Mississippi to St. Paul and then back down to arrive in New Orleans on July thirteenth. They’d return to DC the following day, and I planned to pick them up at Dulles midmorning and drive them home to Great Falls.

“Thank you, Quinn.” Gregor blushed—this would be the first time they’d be going away as a couple—but he looked very pleased, which made me happy.

“You’re welcome.”

“But… what about Miss Priss?”

“Theo and Matheson have agreed to keep her while you’re away,” Mark said. “She’s familiar with their place.”

“You’ve touched all the bases.”

“It’s what I do.”

“Thank you, Mark.” Mother smiled at him.
