This is the story of how Emery Walters became whom he was supposed to be.<br><br>I knew I was male at an early age, something that was a societal no-no in the 1950s and still is in parts of the country today. Burying my male identity, I strove to be the best woman possible. But after raising my four wonderful children from two debilitating marriages, I found myself alone and nearly penniless. That was when Emery asserted his identity.<br><br>Life became better with the shift from female to male, a third marriage, and a wife who, herself, transitioned from male to female.

Some Fine Day

Jan 26, 1969: Tonight we got our dog, Star, from Frank’s boss, Roger DeMumbrum.


Feb 2, 1969: Second time ice skating. Frankie almost runs on his skates. Amy glides. They both loved it this time too.


Mar 14, 1969: Laura wrote all over Amy’s chalk board with pink ink. I got most of it off with comet.


Mar 16, 1969: Frankie still down with flu. Laura washed her hair with orange juice. Amy and Laura had a giggle session.


Mar 22, 1969: The dog broke three light bulbs and I think he ate some of it. Frank and Amy both started swimming lessons; Frank coughed a lot and Amy swallowed a lot of water.


April 4, 1969: We saw the Easter Bunny at Wards today. Frankie liked the candy, Amy liked the bunny, and Laura didn’t get it at all.


June 4, 1969: The kids and I went to Pennsylvania to visit Mom and Dad; we are staying until July 2. Amy got a bike.


June 25, 1969: All three kids are crawling over the footstool and dropping off the other side. What a racket for a rainy day!
