By next morning,the news reports showed minor chaos was headed to the eastern part of the country.Noah drank his coffee,sitting on the couch next to Lark,who was cuddling a scared cheetah to her side.Shani seemed to prefer her cat form—Noah could understand she wasn’t looking forward to shifting every time she startled,which,to be honest,would probably be pretty often during the storm—and nobody looked at her any differently for that.

Erica seemed a bit sad where she sat on the floor next to the other couch,near Dallas’s feet,and when Anton came into the room with his mug,she averted her gaze quickly.

Noah sighed internally.It wasn’t a good thing,and he had a feeling she’d leave sooner rather than later now that Anton had told her he wasn’t interested.Anton came to sit on Noah’s other side and leaned toward him just a little,obviously seeking comfort without asking for it.Noah leaned back slightly,letting the young fox know he’d be there,no matter what.
