Chapter 31

I instantly began to feel as though I was in a room with two titans. The electric energy surrounding them pulsed with fury, and they squared up to each other as though they were one step away from clawing each other’s eyes out.

I was about to tell them to calm down when the door to the infirmary swung open once more.

I was relieved to feel the calming influence of Merrin as she swept back into the room.

“I thought I told you to keep an eye on her, not start arguing amongst yourselves.”

She scowled at them like the commanding lecturer that she was, and the entire room grew eerily silent.

“There is too much energy in here,” she added, gesturing towards the door. “You may all leave me to my work.”

Nobody made a move to leave. In fact, I felt as though all of my friends had turned to stone.

“I’m not going anywhere,” Booth said as he crossed his arms over his chest. His feet planted firmly on the ground as though he was just daring his mother to try to move him.
