Chapter 33

My mind suddenly broke free of whatever false calm she had placed upon me.

I am not going to die here! The strong voice I didn’t recognise as my own yelled as it rushed forwards in my mind like a battering ram.

Celestria was suddenly flung backwards, the thread between us breaking as if it had been cut by an invisible pair of scissors.

I stumbled forwards, barely able to catch myself on the edge of the bed even as Celestria was thrown against the foot of the bed on the other side of the room.

Panting for breath, I skirted my bed, wobbling more than running towards the infirmary doors.

What about Merrin? I thought for a brief moment, but deep down, I knew there was nothing I could do for her if I didn’t get myself safe first.

Another thought suddenly came to mind, and an image of Lecturer Tomas flashed in my mind’s eye as I sucked in a breath. Wind, please help me.
