Chapter 34

I didn’t get the chance to ask her anything. Her movement cut me off as she lifted a delicate hand to press her fingertips against my forehead. A jolt of electricity blasted through my entire body, my forehead burning for a few moments as though she’d placed a lit match right between my eyebrows.

Brianna, remember who you are. Remember where you were. Remember what happened!

Just like that, I felt as though her words had hit me like a baseball bat to the chest, and I was suddenly flung backwards into total darkness.

I was falling once more. Pulled this way and that by a strange and invisible force that threatened to rip me apart if I didn’t let it take me.

My mouth opened to scream again, but no sound escaped my lips. Or if it did, it was swallowed instantly by the blackness all around me.

The Goddess’s voice was the last thing I heard before I began to feel as though a plastic bag had been yanked over my head.
