Chapter 22

I had barely managed to sit down beside Olivia when I heard an oddly familiar voice behind me.

“Well, well, well, I didn’t expect for you to be here tonight.”

My heart skipped a beat as Archer suddenly seemed to materialise from the darkness behind the gazebo.

I wasn’t the only one startled by his sudden appearance. Olivia sucked in a breath beside me.

Archer placed his hand on the wooden support of the gazebo and swung around it until he flopped down beside me, his leather boots creating a loud thud on the wooden floor.

“I thought this party was going to be lame, but it’s a whole lot better now you’re here.” Archer smirked at me before glancing out over the party where people were frollicking in the pool or playing party games off to the side. “Where’s your cousin?”

Olivia offered me a quizzical expression at the word cousin, but I was glad when she didn’t voice the question.

“He’s around here somewhere,” I said before I quickly added, “He’ll be back soon.”
