Chapter 40

“I thought you were more interested in killing the supernatural than helping us?” I half-snarled at him. Last night he’d been more than ready to slit my throat, and now he was inviting me into his home.

“Let’s just say you’ve gotten my interest,” he shrugged and still his eyes were focused on me. “Besides, after last night, I’m invested in seeing, whatever this situation is, through.” He gestured at me as if I was the situation.

“So you don’t still have the urge to kill me?” I gulped past the lump that had begun to form in my throat.

“So far, you’ve given me no reason to.”

I decided it was better not to mention the blade to my throat beside Mathew’s truck and instead turned to Merrin. “Do you think Celestria would be able to find me if I went with him?”

Even before she could answer, Archer began to chuckle to himself. I whirled on him, glaring as I tried to figure out what he thought was so funny.
