Chapter 48

I spent the next few days cooped up in Archer’s guest bedroom after learning that the bed I’d woken up in had actually been his (yikes). I read the Winterwood Book cover to cover with the bedroom door firmly shut, and for the most part, Archer left me to my own devices. The only time he appeared was to bring me food or demand that I take a break to sleep.

Unfortunately, it didn’t matter how many times I read the book, there didn’t seem to be anything obvious that could help us. There were all kinds of spells inside from unlocking spells to invisibility spells, and although in theory, it all appeared seriously cool, I couldn’t help but feel all jumbled up and at a loose end.

Maybe Merrin had hoped there would be something significant inside, but even though I could now read the book, it was still a total mystery to me.
