Chapter 50

As if to back up her words, I felt the sudden rush inside me that told me the Goddess was close.

Though my heart swelled with joy at the thought of finally meeting her, I couldn’t help but ask, “Why now after so long?”

Emelia moved my hands to rest on one of hers before she used her free hand to cup my cheek.

“My hiding in the shadows protected you and your sister for so long,” she said. Her voice trembled as though she was having as hard a time as I was. “But now is no longer the time for hiding. Now is the time for action.”

My skin prickled then. Had my mother appeared as a messenger from the Goddess to tell me that I should finally leave Archer’s apartment?

I opened my mouth to ask the question out loud, but I was cut off by the raucous ringing of a mobile phone.

My head whipped around to Archer, who had the decency to look embarrassed at his disrupting our reunion even as he dug into the pocket of his jeans.

“I’m sorry. It’s Anders. I’ll take this in the bedroom.”
