Chapter 51

The urgency in his tone had me hurrying to the guest bedroom to shove the Winterwood Book back into its duffel bag.

When I returned to the main room of the apartment, both Archer and my mum were waiting for me at the bottom of the entryway stairs.

“I hope you’re ready for a wild ride, Bri.” Archer smirked at me though his expression wasn’t entirely pleased. “Your mum’s insisted that you ride with me.”

“Don’t mums usually frown on their daughter’s riding on motorbikes with ho...umm...guys?”

Jeez, was I really about to call Archer hot? His lips twitched as if he knew what I’d been about to say.

“Under normal circumstances, I’d have said you were better riding in the car with me, but right now it’s probably best we aren’t seen together,” mum explained, totally ignoring the awkward moment between Archer and me. “I’ll follow at a distance so not to draw too much attention. We don’t know who might be out there looking for you.”
