I forced away my doubts with a large inhale of breath and decided it was best not to think about those kinds of things. I had to remain positive if I was going to have any chance of accomplishing anything.
“Your lecturer is a grown witch. I’m sure she can take care of herself!” Archer protested.
“Archer, if I didn’t know any better I’d say you cared.” I chuckled and threw him a smile over my shoulder, but he didn’t look at all impressed.
“Of course I care! I’ve spent the better part of a week keeping you safe!”
“And before that you were trying to slit my throat,” I threw back at him. “Things change.”
Archer scowled deeply at me as though he wasn’t pleased by the reminder, and I had to admit that he was cute when he was worried. The little scowl lines on his forehead only added to his rugged look.
