“Joan is right. If we can speak to your father and the other members of the council, we may be able to convince them that this is all a terrible misunderstanding.” Emelia didn’t sound convinced but I decided to try not to listen to the uneasy tone of her voice. Instead, I sucked in a deep breath and sent a silent prayer to the Goddess and all the elements.

There was no way around it. I was going after my friends no matter what kind of danger that put me in.

I hope you brought me back for a reason. I thought, hoping that the Goddess would hear me.

There was no reply, but I held onto the hope that she hadn’t resurrected me just to desert me.

“Are you ready?” Emelia asked. She zipped up her leather jacket and adjusted it on her torso. “It’s time to go.”
