Chapter 58

“They were a little shocked, but they’ll come around,” Margaux said. “Phyllis said she thinks they might actually like the idea of their parents not being so alone and far away from them in their golden years.”

“I had never thought of it that way,” I said.

“Me either,” Stefano said. “It’s a good selling point.”

“We’ll see,” Margaux said. “For today though, I’m just going to pick up two bottles of champagne and enjoy their company.”

When Margaux left, Stefano looked at me.

“Walk on the beach?” he asked. “We could share those plans.”

“And burn off some of that amazingly delicious yet oh so fattening lunch,” I said.

We talked that afternoon as we walked along the beach, and we didn’t stop talking until dinner. We made a light salad, and then we talked some more. We sat on the beach, watching the stars, and we continued talking.

Somewhere around eleven, we went to sleep, after a long conversation in bed.
