THEY ARRIVED AT the little church a few minutes before the memorial service was to begin, and an usher directed them to the pew directly in front of the pulpit. The church was already half full, and by the time Father Jackson stepped up to the pulpit, there was standing room only.

Father Jackson raised his hands in greeting, and thanked everyone for coming on such short notice.“We are gathered here this afternoon to honor the memory of one of our own,one who was taken suddenly from us only a few short days ago.

Father Jackson went on to lead them through a Memorial Service which Jake found to be quite beautiful. He realized from his years spent reading and memorizing various texts, that the priest had cobbled together several sections of various offices, and he was surprised at how well the combination worked.
