Chapter 33

Friday

JOSH,JAKE,AND the others watched fascinated,as a small diesel switch engine pulled up on the spur line.Don walked over to where the spur line branched off from the siding, bent down, and threw a switch. Then the engine pulled onto the siding and attached itself to the coupler of the nearest tank car.Don went over to the engine, connected a pair of hoses, and the engine slowly pulled the tank cars and refrigerator cars down the spur line.Once the last car had cleared the siding,Don threw the switch again, then walked over to the group.

“Do we have enough storage capacity to transfer all that fuel and gas to our facilities?”Jake said.

“Just barely,”Josh said.“It depends upon how full our existing tanks are.In any case,it’ll be handled.

“I forgot to mention something at this morning’s breakfast meeting,”Claire said.

“And that would be?”Josh said.
