Chapter 5

“Yes, thank you,” she replied blandly, continuing to walk with a pole in her arms to the side of the school.

“There’s absolutely no wisdom in hanging onto such a low-end animal!” Peggy called after her. Pleased with that comment, she rode away.

If she only knew!Emma seethed.

She was dying to show them her horse’s calm attitude once it was really established: it would take a while before it became second nature.

Imagine how surprised they would be! She’d be able to join in the group again!

But as she stashed the last pole, Emma wasn’t so sure she wanted to join the others again.

She was still pondering on this when she drove home. Did she seriously think those riders would welcome her back? Would they be pleased for her if she reappeared with a horse that behaved impeccably in jumping as well as being better than theirs at dressage?

Most likely they’d be annoyed that she solved her horse’s problems on her own. For some reason it suited them to sneer at her lack of success.
