Chapter 22

He decided to get it over with one evening, when the three of them were alone in the house. Daniel was out, with his mysterious boyfriendfor sure, and the thought alone made Alex’s toes curl. Kevin or Gabriel, oddly, had never interfered in Daniel’s life and neither had asked Alex anything, which made it clear to him the two guys might have guessed that kind of subject was still too delicate to be discussed over a beer and a pizza.

That night, Kevin was strumming his guitar sitting on the couch, and Gabriel was writing something on his laptop, probably lyrics for a new song.

Alex watched them in silence for a moment, then he walked across the room and stood in front of them.

“Daniel is gay,” he said, burying his hands deep down inside his pockets. He didn’t know where to start, so he had opted for a safe statement.

His two friends raised their heads at the same time and they looked at him with a neutral expression.
