Chapter 28

“I think so. Powell’s got feelers out already. I told him to pick an easy one to start with. If we get through it with no problems, we’ll have a good idea of all our capabilities.”

“The kids are smart, and ask the right questions. I guess what worries me is, will they freeze when they find out what they’re doing is the real thing?”

“Let’s hope not,” Dirk said. “The two of us could probably pull most of the jobs off by ourselves, but I like the idea of teaching them the ropes. It means when things really get going we can hit several places a month if Powell can pull that many together. Four sets of eyes, surveying a house or business, means between us we’ll spot any potential problems and avoid or negate them before we go in.”

“I’ve got the feeling Fey’s going to be our ace in the hole. She’s got the impudence to ask questions without offending anyone or making them wary.”

“I agree. We just have to rein her in if she gets too bouncy.”

“Are we all going out on each job?”
