Chapter 9

“Things are pretty great,” I told Chris. “I like Darren a lot.”

“A lot? Stop lying, Mark. You look practically enraptured just saying the man’s name. No wonder you’ve been dodging me for the past few weeks. You’ve been shacked up with the coach.”

“We’re not shacked up.”

“Okay, so when is he moving in?”

I laughed. “I don’t know, but he does have keys to my place.”

“How often does he stay over?”

“Most weekends and sometimes during the week.”

“What’s the holdup? Are you afraid of having someone in your space?”

“No. I’d be more than happy to have Darren move in.”

“Have you told him that?”

“No. I don’t want him to feel like I’m pushing him into something.”

“Didn’t he live with his last boyfriend?”

I nodded. “And, according to his sister, that’s why he’s got cold feet about doing it again with me.”

“Have you talked with him about it?”

“No. I figured I’d let him take the lead on that.”
