Chapter 29

“Green wheat!”

“Your belongings are in my house, Micha. Here in this land, that means under Egyptian law, you and I are married.”

Micha smiled and whispered. “That only applies to men and women.”

“It applies to you and me. I brought the green wheat to symbolize our happiness and that we are married in spirit to each other. I hope you accept this pledge. Do you accept?”

Micha moved close, bumped his forehead against Eli’s and rubbed his nose with Eli. “Of course, I accept. I love you. Will you love me still when I grow old?”

Eli smiled. “Yes. Always. The Nephilim only mate once.”

“Then I guess I’m lucky that I’m the first.”

“And only one,” Eli said. Eli leaned, kissed him tenderly, and used his tongue to search if Micha had placed any honey underneath his tongue.

“Our love will be forever,” Eli whispered.

“Forever,” Micha murmured.
