Chapter 45

“Yes. It has come in handy over my long lifetime. Although not in the way you’re using it.” Virgil tapped his chin thoughtfully before saying, “If I were to make a guess, you had latent telekinetic abilities even before I turned you. It’s the only explanation I can think of for why you already can use that power.”

“If I did,” Ephram replied, “I sure didn’t know it.”

Virgil chuckled. “That’s what latent implies. There, but not realized.”

Ephram grinned. “Touché. It does make sense though. Now controlling animals is something else.”

“As I’m certain Philip has already told you, many vampires have that ability, although it generally doesn’t manifest until they’ve been around longer than you have.”

“I guess I’m just special,” Ephram said wryly.

“Of course you are. You are my Child, and I’m very old.”

“Three thousand, Philip said.”

Virgil grinned wickedly. “Three thousand, eight hundred and forty-five.”
