“It rained nearly the entire time you were gone.”
“I was worried about that. It rained on me the entire trip as well.”
“I managed to make it to the Nordhuff place. Young James came and stayed the night with me, and that was the night the wolves visited. I started some work in the field before you left and got the stable cleaned out, but that was about it.”
Frank looked up and grinned, “I’m glad you were just as miserable as I was while I was gone.”
“Frankie, you can’t even imagine.”
“There isn’t a bank there yet, so I did end up spending a bit more than I intended,” Frank explained as they continued to unload the wagon. “We’ve still got quite a bit left.”
Gregory let out a whistle. “Look at all this cloth. New clothes for everyone.”
“Yeah, look what I got for McAvoy,” Frank said as he showed Gregory the fabric he picked out for McAvoy’s surprise. While Frank unfolded the cloth, the kitten pounced in the middle of his lap, attacking the folds of the material.
