Bo grinned at Chad. “Come on. Let’s get out of here.”
Then came a second surprise. Bo walked up to the hitching rail in front of the store where two horses stood tied. “You ride don’t you?”
Chad stared openmouthed at the animals. “You bet I do!” he finally said.
“Race you to the show grounds,” Bo said as he mounted a tall paint horse.
“You’re on!” Chad replied, feeling exhilaration sweep through him as he stepped into the stirrup and swung his leg over the horse’s back. He had never ridden in a saddle before, so it proved a bit of a challenge. But once mounted on the grey mare, the two were off at a gallop toward the edge of town.
Bo easily beat Chad. Chad didn’t mind. Dressed in his new cowboy hat and riding a real western horse in a saddle was more than he could have wished.
