Chapter 62

“Are you done?”

Jake looked deceptively calm leaning against the door with his ankles crossed and arms folded over his chest.

Brian leaned forward and spit before rinsing his mouth, ignoring the streaks of copper streaked white foam. He rinsed his mouth thoroughly a couple more times for good measure then splashed water over his reddened face to try and cool himself down.

His uncle had moved inside his bedroom and was pacing in front of his bed by the time Brian made his way in. Brian crossed his arms protectively but kept quiet, waiting for his uncle to acknowledge him. Eventually Jake came to a standstill and eyed him silently.

“You didn’t even give him a chance.” Brian said shakily and kept his gaze trained somewhere at Jake’s feet, too humiliated to look his uncle in the eye.
