A fireball burning up the sky leads farmer Jason Thomas to the strangest thing he's ever found in his pumpkin patch. A man with wings. “Not surprising, I guess. You were out for about two days.” Jason pinned him with a critical eye. “What did you do, anyway?”


Ah, and what to tell Jason? He was loathe to make his mate fearful, but Jason needed to know. Humans were not equipped to see the enemy, even Castiel knew that. This was one drawback in not being matched with another angel. Too bad the Creator could not see fit to give humans the ability to see adphaht.


Stumped on a delicate way to explain, he went with the plainest words. “I spotted an evil entity lurking the boundary of you home and dealt with it when it attempted to come closer. I may have been overzealous in expelling the creature.” Castiel shrugged when Jason’s mouth opened with surprise. “Placing a barrier to keep the thing out is taxing under the best circumstances and I was not up to my usual strength. You saw the result.”
