Tears formed at the corners of my eyes. I hugged him and realized that maybe, for the first time in my life, I had admitted to loving two brothers in life more than myself. 48: Best Interest

Patrick walked up to us. He looked freshly showered and was dressed in a pair of shorts and a tight T-shirt, which was like plastic wrap against his torso and showcased a beautiful chest that I could have easily pressed against for the rest of my life. A smile was etched at the corners of his mouth because Jesse and I were turning into best friends, learning and accepting each other for our flaws.

“Where have you two been?”

“Walking and talking,” his brother replied. “I like Cannon. He’s a good guy and my friend.”

Patrick gave the kid a hug, kissing Jesse’s head. Jesse squirmed with discomfort and eventually escaped. Jesse bolted to the house, away from us, Patrick asked me, “Do you want to go the gym this morning?”
