Chapter 24

The light intensified, until blinded, Alex gasped, squeezed his eyes tightly shut, turning his face and body away. He could swear he felt heat, and then…everything dimmed. After a few blinks, he took a careful look. For a second he believed Mani had vanished. The wooden bed frame and faded wallpaper were as evident as was Mani’s outline. Details of the room appeared through him as if Alex were looking through a ghost.

The ghost lifted one hand, brushing fingers over Alex’s face, but even this sensation grew lighter, lighter, lighter still, until it faded away. The last of Mani to fade were those violet eyes and then even they winked out in a white pulsing source of light, flame-like, containing little violet sparks.
