Chapter 12

A few customers actually came to Wes while each of the knights boasted their statuses and titles and deeds. The whole time he kept one eye on the jousting field, watching Sir Charles making his passes, striking the targets each time. Wes noticed that he wasn’t as accurate as usual. He only struck the edge of one target, and the rings barely found their way onto his lance. Wes had to count the money his customers handed him twice because he wasn’t paying attention the first time.
