Chapter 15

“That’s a great song, man. Whaddya doing?”

Josh strolls to the edge of the bed and sits down beside a loose-lipped Eddie. “How much have you had to drink?”

Eddie attempts to answer. But it looks like he is on his way out. “I love you, Josh! I love you, man!”

As Eddie succumbs to a restful sleep, Josh hangs around the apartment to keep an eye on him.

Josh feeds Fletcher some of his dry food and puts the sleepy-eyed dog into his crate in the kitchen.

Before leaving, Josh tidies up Eddie’s apartment. Picking up the trail of the guy’s clothes in every room and piling them in a clothesbasket in the tightly confined bathroom. Because Eddie does not own a dishwasher, Josh washes and dries the plates and cups by hand.

While in the bathroom, disinfecting the scummy shower and toilet, Josh hears Fletcher groaning in his bed. Ten feet away, Josh says, “Am I making too much noise, buddy?”
