“Kids are naturally curious,” he told his partner. “It’s normal for him to follow us around. We’re probably the first new thing he’s seen all year.”

Nikoloz shivered. “I could not live here in the middle of nowhere. With possums and other wild creatures prowling about in the yard.”

“Yeah, there’s probably a coon or two out there now.” Vincent had to chuckle at the man’s expression. Nikoloz had no idea what a coon was, and his imagination was conjuring something horrendous. “Raccoons. Like little bears with hands instead of paws. They like garbage, too.”
