Chapter 23

Cam tapped her phone off, then called Pauly. The call went right to his answering machine. Cam left a message that they should meet for lunch or dinner in the next two days.

Cam walked out to the living room and looked across the room to where Maggie was reading.

“I can’t believe how well this relationship is growing.”

“That’s wonderful, sweetie,” Maggie commented. “You deserve a good relationship.”

“I hope this won’t end like the others.”

“Cameron, think positively. Is Michael like the others?”

“No,” Cam admitted in a soft voice. “No, she’s not.”

“And neither are you.”

Cam pursed her lips in thought. “No.”

The first thing she did the next morning was call Blake.

“Well, what did you think?” he asked.

“It’s workable. I guess I was over-thinking it. It wasn’t nearly as bad as I pictured,” she told him. “I can work with it.”

“That’s good. Dave was really singing your praises last night. He told me what Norman did to you.” Blake laughed.
