Chapter 46

They spoke for a few minutes and then Johnny turned back to her.

“Okay, You’re gonna work here with us for a while. You can take Clint’s place and he’ll make the deliveries.”

Cam’s eyebrows rose. “Stay here? Okay, but I’ve got to call Maggie so she won’t worry.”

“She has that short a leash on you?”

“Hell, no, but if I don’t come home tonight she’ll probably call some of my friends and have them looking for me. She’ll have the whole city on alert. If I tell her where I am, it won’t be a problem.”

Johnny thought for a moment then motioned for one of his men to untie Cam’s wrists. He handed Cam his phone.

“Put it on speaker and don’t tell her where you are.”

“Of course not,” Cam said as she took the phone and pressed Maggie’s office phone number. Hopefully Maggie will pick up her cues and write down the calling number.

When Alison answered, Cam said, “Put me through to her.”

Alison was a little shocked by Cam’s tone.

“She’s with a client,” Alison told her.
