Chapter 9

“Who are you calling a bitch?” Amanda yelled.

“Some skank! You better know yourself if you’re talking to me, little girl!” Charlie yelled back as Tim and Lacy dragged him away.

“Charlie, what’s your problem?” Lacy demanded.

“Can’t you go one day without causing aggravation?” Tim wanted to know.

“Don’t start with me, Tim. You know that manky Amanda is a world class bitch.”

“But I won’t allow her to influence my day.”

“Well I ain’t such a good person, Timmy.”

“Sure you are, Charlie,” Lacy said. “Deep down you know.”

Tim smiled at their friend. Seeing the anger seep from Charlie, Tim was relieved to see another disaster averted, and easily got into the conversation of party outfits for Friday night. Over time, though, Tim grew more silent as his thoughts inevitably returned to Saturday night at the dinner table again.

“Penny for your thoughts?” Lacy said.

“Bitch, I’ll pay a dollar. I know it’s some good shit when he pulls that face,” Charlie said.
