“What are you guys up to?” Tom’s father asked as he entered the room.

Tom looked up from the dining table where he, his mother, and Tim were looking through papers spread out in front of them.

“We’re finalizing some details for Friday night, Dad,” he said, his attention already back to the papers before him.

“Best keep a close eye on the punch bowl, boys,” Lynnette warned. “There will always be one or two people that will try to ruin the evening for everybody.”

“No worries, Mrs. W. They’re going to have a very difficult time getting past me,” Tim said.

“Now that I have no problem believing,” Tom snorted good-naturedly.
