Chapter 12

“How much?” Thor asked, taking out his money pouch.

Denisha named a price that seemed reasonable to Thor, not that he had any knowledge of such transactions.

“Maybe you come see Denisha again before you leave Jamaica? No?” she said to Edgar. “You, too, sailor mon,” she said smiling at Thor. “I show you good time, too.”

Edgar looked hopefully at Thor, who laughed and said, “We are only in port for a few days, but thank you for taking care of the boy,” he said, handing her the money.

“Anytime, no worry,” Denisha said as she leaned down and kissed Edgar on the cheek, increasing the redness that lingered there.

Denisha turned and walked away, her colorful skirt swaying in rhythm to her stride. She headed for a table full of seamen who had just arrived.

“You hungry?” Thor asked.

“Starving,” Edgar replied.
