Chapter 14

Just being in Cape May made me feel calmer. The stress I??d been under in Philadelphia with my classes and Sean Gluski seemed many miles away now. I knew the anxiety would return when I got back to Center City but, for the time being, I decided to put my problems aside and enjoy myself.

I hadn??t even heard Jay come onto the deck, but I felt his hands on my shoulders.

??Hey,?? he said.

??Hey. What??s going on with Mark???

??He called to tell me a station in Sacramento is interested in me.??

??Sacramento???

??That??s right.??

??You??re not actually thinking of moving to California, are you???

??The offer the station put on the table is shit. It wouldn??t really be worth my while. But, if they sweetened the pot, I might consider it.??

I looked up at him. ??Seriously???

??Yeah. Why not? Wouldn??t you like a change of scenery???

??I haven??t lived outside of Philadelphia since I went to DC for college. I don??t know if I could adjust to living on the West Coast.??
