Chapter 6

We climb into Rook’s truck and drive away. The trip is rather short and calm. I stare at the scenery, tranquil and longing. I take in the fields, farm houses, and surrounding forests. Eventually, my discovered country bear says to me, “My family loves you.”

“I enjoyed them. They are all very nice.”

“Mother and Barb adore you.”

“I adore Jake,” I confess, laughing.

“He is rather hot, isn’t he?”

“Big time. Ain’t nothing wrong with a huge guy”

“I second that,” he says, and resumes our trip south, back to the city, our apartments, and our boyfriendhood.
