Chapter 17

On my taxi ride home, I think, The Hunt has ended for now, I realize. The last act in Parker and Jimmy’s game has been carried out. The two have gotten exactly what they wanted; not that I’m complaining. I was selfish, desiring the tangled couple. My needs were very distinct and I fulfilled them with such ease. Becoming “picked up” in Rossmyer Park was not a mistake in my opinion. I too wanted to play The Hunt and become victimized. My one-time affair with the two gentlemen was not pushed upon me. I was not careened into a position to be a subject of their interest; it was everything I wanted, honestly.

After a fresh shower and three glasses of red wine, I slip into bed with Rook, cradling his furry body against my own. It begins to rain on the city; thunder and lightning wreak havoc. Rook whispers in the darkness, “Tell me what happened with the Hunt. I want every scathing detail.”
