Chapter 11

Since Arthur wasn’t the type of man who spent all night with the target, Caiden was able to be home around midnight both days, much to Styge’s obvious delight. Cats might be independent critters, but it was apparent there a big difference between ‘Oh, you’re home. Big deal’ and ‘Where the hell have you been?’ Styge fell into the latter category.

The next morning, after Caiden delivered the information to Zander, Styge’s greeting was much less enthusiastic when Caiden arrived back at the house. In point of fact, the cat ignored him completely. Instead, he stood on the windowsill in the bedroom, staring out at something while snarling.

Caiden went to see what had Styge so upset. “Whoa,” he said softly. “Competition, huh?”
