Chapter 13

“I would think not.” Caiden began putting together ham and cheese sandwiches as Styge crept into the room. The cat made a wide circle around Leander to sit at Caiden’s feet. “Decided food is more important than continuing to be in a snit, huh?” Caiden said, dropping a small piece of ham. Styge caught it before it hit the floor.

“You said he’s a rescue?” Leander said.

“Yes. When I got him, they were calling him Blackie, for obvious reasons. I renamed him Stygian, or Styge for short.”

“Also for obvious reasons,” Leander replied. “He’s dark and certainly hellish around me.”

“Give him time.”

I intend to. Because I’m going to be around for a while if I have my way, Caiden. Until I figure out if we’re right about you.
