Leander didn’t, although he looked pensively at Caiden before taking a final drink of his coffee. The waitress came back, he signed the credit slip, put his card back in his wallet, then said to Caiden, “Ready to leave?”

“Yes.”

When they were outside the restaurant, Caiden thanked Leander for dinner.

“You’re welcome. I enjoyed myself. Maybe we can get together again sometime.”

“Maybe. When you’re in town, which I suspect isn’t all that often.”

“Yeah. I take off again Monday. Can I call you when I get back?”

Caiden hesitated, then nodded. “Sure.”

“It would help if I had your number.”
