“I don’t think I’d be very good at it. I’m not a people person, as I think I’ve already told you.”


“You just have to pretend to be someone who is. It’s all up here.” Leander tapped Caiden’s forehead. “Envision yourself as…Hmm. A go-getter who wants the people you’re escorting to enjoy their new lives.” He looked directly into Caiden’s eyes. “I have a feeling you could do, if you put your mind to it.”


“You have great faith in my abilities, considering you hardly know me.”


“I’d like to rectify that.” Leander kissed him. “I like you, as a person. Not something I expected to happen.”


If I’m reading him correctly, he means that. Of course, being who he is, he’s probably a consummate actor, but…


“Surprisingly, I think I like you too,” Caiden replied softly.
