Chapter 20

And if Leander isn’t here by then…I guess Styge gets to share my dinner.

Caiden didn’t really have any doubts about Leander showing up. After all, the man had an agenda.

All he had left was to put together the spinach and mushroom salad, which he wouldn’t do until just before they ate. With a few minutes until Leander was due to arrive; Caiden went to change into nicer jeans and a dark blue shirt.

He finished, and was combing his hair, when the doorbell rang. He went to answer, letting Leander in. Before the door closed, Leander was kissing him.

“That was…unexpected,” Caiden said when they broke apart.

“I like doing the unexpected,” Leander replied, handing him a bottle of wine. “It’s a merlot, with a deep, intense, fruity flavor according to the man at the liquor store. He said it goes with just about everything.” He sniffed the air. “Whatever you’re making smells delicious.”

“Thanks. I hope it is.”
