Chapter 42

“I meant—”

“I know what you meant. The answer’s yes. I’ve been around long enough that I’ve gotten involved with more than one man on a personal level. But I always knew it was fated not to last, so…”

“You made it a self-fulfilling prophesy, as it were.”

Caiden nodded. “Yeah, pretty much. It’s not like—” now Caiden lowered his voice, leaning in a bit, “—a human would or could accept me for what I am.”

“That was out of the blue,” Caiden replied. “I’m sure Zander will arrange for someone to do it, like he did with you.”

“What about bringing him with us? It would add another layer of ‘this is real’. If you get what I’m saying.”

“It would, but no can do. Leander’s seen him.”
